Product Description
Bright red LED towed car wiring kit
LED bulbs and sockets are typically used to wire a towed car for flat towing. They are permanently installed through the backside of the taillight housing. While towing, the LEDs perform all turn signal, brake and park light functions at the rear of the towed vehicle.
LEDs have significant safety and appearance advantages over incandescent bulbs. They are brighter, activate faster and have a much longer lifespan than incandescent bulbs. They are ideal for dinghy lighting systems because they generate almost no heat and can be used where incandescent bulbs would melt the taillight lens. Also, LEDs draw significantly less power. Since the power comes from the front of the RV, the current must push through 40 to 60 feet of wire before hitting the bulbs at the rear of the towed. Because LEDs have much lower amperage requirements, they result in vastly brighter taillights when compared to incandescent bulbs.
The LED bulbs illuminate red. This is important. White LEDs behind a red lens result in pink colored taillights. Roadmaster specifically uses a bright red LED resulting in highly visible red taillights. The 152-LED is a comprehensive towed vehicle wiring kit. It includes a 25' wiring harness, two electrical pigtails, two sockets, two red LED bulbs, wiring split loom, zip ties, wiring supplies and installation instructions. Sockets fit a 1" diameter hole.
